Well, I do sorta like Jered Weaver, Angels be damned.
The post formerly known as 'Daniel California."
Valencia ftw.
Forgot to schedule this guy. I'm pretty sure Liam is pitching for the Twins. Does Shields pitch for the Angels tonight? Find out soon.
What happens when Burt and Gardy are both gone this weekend in Seattle? Is that a thing? What happens when butters gets his chance? Tune in.
Go Twins!

Doumit (C) | 1 | -1 | N/A |
Parmelee (1B) | 1 | -1 | 0 |
Mauer (1B) | -1 | 1 | 0 |
Morneau (1B) | -1 | 0 | -1 |
Casilla | 1 | 6 | 3 |
Valencia | 3 | -2 | 0 |
Carroll | -1 | 3 | 2 |
Willingham | 2 | -3 | -5 |
Span | 0 | 7 | 2 |
Plouffe | -1 | 2 | 0 |
Doumit (RF) | -2 | -1 | -1 |
Total | 0 | 10 | 0 |
Overall, I would say most have been roughly average. Casilla, Carroll, and Span have all been good at their respective positions. Willingham has been not so good in left and Doumit questionable in right. This is all what we expected though.
Valencia I think needs more time before we determine if last year's -18/-13/-6 is his talent level or if it was an off year. All three liked him in 2010 (+3/+5/+6), so there's some hope there.
Mauer's numbers at catcher are almost entirely because of stolen bases. If one or two runners were instead thrown out, I think he would be rated as average.
Finally, I think it bears mentioning that all three divorce position from how good the player is at the position. Mostly, this is okay. However, it is an issue with B-R's 'dWAR' rating, which I do not like. It makes it easy to forget that a -10 shortstop (say, Plouffe) is equivalent to a +5 corner outfielder. Not exactly equal, but pretty close in fielding value.
Late big innings abound. The Rock Cats play twelve innings again. Losing streaks continue in Rochester and Fort Myers.
I never got around to turning the game on last night. I meant to, and then it was 3-0, and then...well, it never happened. I should probably just accept that this is who the Twins are, and they're the only Twins I've got.

It appears that no players with connections to the Minnesota Twins were born on this day. However, it is the birthday of my brother, who is the head of the Mining and Minerals Department at Virginia Tech. Happy Birthday, Dr. A!

Mrs. Buffalo is currently watching Cupcake Wars. How many different ways can you possibly make cupcakes? Let's take a look, I see 8 of them:
1:Trout- This dude only has 5 career home runs. That is only 1 more than Drew Butera. What a cupcake.
2:Callaspo -Career slugging percentage? .384 For a frame of reference, Tom Prince, in his two seasons with the Twins, had a .371 slugging percentage.
3:Pujols - A .265 OBP this season? You know who can beat that? Chris Heintz and his career mark of .268
4:Hunter- This guy is a bozo. I am not even going to bother looking at his numbers.
5:Trumbo- A career .294 OBP for the LAAA slugger. You know who can beat that, besides most people? How about Dave Engle with a career .316 mark.
6:Kendrick- The second baseman has a 87 OPS+ this season. This looks suspiciously like Tim Laudner's career mark of 84.
7:Wells- The only thing worse that Veron Wells this season? Vernon Wells last season. His numbers compare unfavorably to Pat Borders' season with the Twins.
8:Aybar- This season with the Angels Aybar has one stolen base. This is exactly as many as Jeff Reed had in his career with the Twins. Dude was a catcher. What a cupcake this Aybar is!
9:Iannetta- This guy is actually having a hell of a season.
LAAAAA is hitting like a bunch of back up catchers. What a joke.
