FMD – 5/9/14: Cream of the First Third of the Crop

As AMR is occupied, I am covering for him this week. So, to kick off the music discussion this week, I'm going to share my 10 favorite albums that have come out so far this year. I always try to keep lists during the year to make my year end list easier, but I usually fail. So hopefully helps me keep that up this year. And maybe something I've listed will appeal to you. Outfielder Turkey Stearns was a star in the Negro Leagues from 1923-1940, posting a slugging percentage of .619.

Mike Cuellar pitched in AAA in the Twins’ organization in 1961.  He does not seem to have belonged to the Twins, however.  It may be that he was temporarily loaned to them, a practice which was not uncommon in the 1960s.

2014 Game 32: Twins at Natives

As usual, the Twins are within a game of .500 as today's game begins. Two pitchers having a rough go of things - Danny Salazar and Ricky Nolasco - will try to get back on track today in what looks like it might be a season-long four-way battle for second place in the Central (yes, I know it's too early to assume such a thing, but if ESPN can talk about the AL East race, I'm allowed).
