Minor Details: Games of July 28

Byron Buxton starts his rehab with a bang.  Tim Melville is pitching very well.  Gabriel Moya makes his Chattanooga debut.  No clutch hits, but the Miracle wins anyway.  Joe Cronin hits a big home run.  Shane Carrier has a couple of big hits.  Alex Robles has a big day in a losing effort.  The DSL Twins build a big lead and hold on.

Game 101: Twins at Oakland

I suppose I could "Sell hope" and say that the Twins still have a shot of getting back into thing because the next week or so,  they play the dregs of the AL and NL. But I'm not doing that. This team does not have the bullpen arms to make it.

But I also hope they don't trade off the good players for pennies. If Ervin Santana is pitching for us in September thats fine by me.  If he gets flipped for Mike Trout, thats cool too.

Jaime Garcia gets his first (only?) start for the Twins. We'll see how his stuf plays in the American League. The A's are tossing out a rookie named Daniel Gossett. (insert seligshrug.gif here)

FMD 7-28-2017: More Females Please

I figured we should continue the female artists conversation that got started earlier this week, maybe branching away from albums and talking more about songs, particular artists, performances, etc. Just broadening (eh? eh?) the conversation a bit.

I have to confess that I haven't gotten all the way through the list (I started at #1 and worked backward) of top albums by women, but I'm suspecting that two of my favorite artists don't appear: Jenny Lewis and Niko Case. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Both of them were very influential in my introduction to independent music, and so I have a soft spot in my heart for both of them.

I also once wore a t-shirt to a Rilo Kiley concert that said "Jenny, I get married in a week; this is your last chance!" I've worn more effect shirts before.

Kyle Gibson pitches very well.  Dereck Rodriguez has a rare bad game.  Eduardo Del Rosario gives up a hit to the first batter he faces, then no more in eight innings in a very good high-A debut.  The Kernels get only one run and seven hits in two games, getting swept  An eleven-run inning drops the GCL Twins.
