Game 55: Royals 1, Twins 0

I wonder if the Twins will consider retiring Bruce Chen's number when his playing days are over. Going by the eye test, he's the greatest pitcher the Major Leagues have ever seen. The boys definitely got Chenned last night.

On a positive note, Liriano looked pretty sharp again. I guess that means the front office can maybe move him for something. I don't know, I'll be sad to see him go. I hope he looks good while he's still in a Twins uniform.

I hope they can win the series tonight, but with Nic_ BBlac_bburn on the hill, I won't be holding my breath.

Boolean operators are cool. I did a Google search for Game 54 and this is the picture I got. Even I am too young to remember the show when it originally aired, but I do remember it vaguely from afterschool sitcom reruns way back in the day. Sorry, I get distracted easily these days.

Game 53: Twins 6, Indians 3

The Twins win (with bunting).

"I think we can have three or four guys bunt in a row," Gardenhire said. "That makes it entertaining for the manager, who can just sit and watch them run around for a while." Scott Diamond improves to 4-1 by pitching 7 innings giving up 7 hits. The Indians managed 3 unearned runs. Joe Mauer sprained his right thumb during the 7th. "I fouled a pitch back and felt it," said Mauer. "It was barking pretty good, so I got some ice on it."

Dozier, Willingham and Plouffe! all hit doubles and Laddie had 2 sacrifice flies. Dozier and Plouffe! also had E's on the day which led to runs.

I don't know if there's any way this team competes for the playoffs, but I'd rather watch them win than lose.

2012 Game 51: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Indians

Carl Pavano
v
Derek Lowe

Lowe shutout the Twins last time. Pavano was rumored to be quite jealous, as Lowe did it without a single strikeout. Lowe then did okay against Miami and followed that by giving up eight runs in 2.1 innings against the White Sox. He did strike out three that time though, giving him his highest K/9 for a game ever (probably).

However, that was then. Today, I expect dead grass leading to the infielders and tired outfielders as each pitcher continues to one-down the other with fewer strikeouts in the quest to pitch to impact.
