Game 82 — Twins v. Brew Crew

First half of the season done and the Twins are um... on a 70-92 pace. Ugh. This first half has stunk, the Twins stink, injuries, suspensions, poor base running, bullpen disasters, walk off losses, disappointing performances by key players.... You name it, The Twins built this.

Jake Odorizzi against Junior Guerra today. Odorizzi righted his ship last start as he went 6 strong innings after a bunch of disastrous starts. Guerra is one of those decent guys that the Brewers typically toss out there.

3:10p game and its only broadcast on something called Facebook Live. Seems like a good place to have the game as only the olds are on Facebook these days. Also, Willians Astudillo playing second base today, so that's something. Wasn't he a catcher? At this rate he may take a 9th inning pitching spot before he sees time behind the plate.

Go Twins.

Game 41: brewers @ twins

Is it happening?

Experts seem to think that the AL Central could be won by a sub-500 team. That...seems possible, but it seems just as possible that the Indians could win the division by twenty if the Twins can't get it going.

Fernando Romero might be the right guy to do it. He's given up one run in three starts ,after all. I expect that this is a sustainable pace. So, I'm running the Brewers are thing to score zero runs. So that's good.

Hope the bats can beat that.

(somehow, there was not a Fernando Romero tag. I have fixed that. The first of many, hopefully.)

Game 111 — Brewers at Twins

It’s the second game of 2-game series against the Brew Crew. Then they all pack it up and head to Milwaukee and do the same thing for two more games. No word if they share a plane back to MKE. I’ve gone on the record against these two-and-two series against your other league rival. Back in the day, the weekend series against your rival was a blast. Mainly because it was on the weekend. It created excitement and memories, made fans out people not necessarily fans. Who knows, maybe they’d come back for another game sometime.

Now tonight is supposed to be gorgeous weather-wise and the crowd should be decent, but it’s really a lost opportunity. But then again, it’s MLB. What are you going to do? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mejia against Matt Garza. Should be a fun game. I’ll be there in those trendy Catch seats, eating free Tapas and drinking free Summit bear with the boy. I may have to cancel Wednesday morning meetings.

Game 55 recap: Milwaukee 10 Twins 5

Sometimes awesome things happen at baseball games. The hot topic around the Twins-sphere today was Joe Mauer's bunt in Boston. Today, he answers the critics by pulling (!) a 3run (!!) home run (!!!) to tie the game at 5. Or a guy with a sub 5.0 k/9 rate getting 9 strikeouts in 7 innings. Good job Kyle Gibson!

Sometimes not so awesome things happen, like the Brewers taking sinkerballer Kyle Gibson deep 3 times. Or Torii Hunter misplaying a line drive that leads to the go ahead run. Or an infield fly that travels 25 feet from home is allowed to drop in and Adam Lind can easily lumber in from second base to score a run. And also not awesome is the Twins losing to the Brewers. yuck.

But, there are still two more games in the series. We can still get a series win.

Notes:

- Mauer's home run was his 111th of his career and passed Roy Smalley on the Twins HR list. Next up is Jacque Jones with 132.

-Mauer is already 10th on the franchise RBI list. With 3 tonight he has 722. Rod Carew had 733 and Torii Hunter added one more tonight, he has 747

- Kyle Gibson had a career high 9 strikeouts. His previous high was 8 and that happened only two starts ago against the White Sox.

The only thing more surprising than my little brother giving a speech at his high school graduation last night was seeing that the Twins won their third in a row while we celebrated his being named valedictorian.
