Game 44: Old Gardys versus New Gardys

Game two in the showdown series between the Twins and Tigers as both teams battle for second place in the AL Central. Twins took game 1 and look to solidify their second place standing. Lance Lynn on the mound for the Twins and the less said about him the better. Matthew Boyd on for the Tigers and he's been decent with a 1.06 WHIP, winning record, etc.

Twins only have a 7 man bullpen so let's hope the batters can give Lynn a nice cushion so that he can turn it over to the bullpen by the 5th inning and win this game in memory of Phil Hughes.

Game time 7:10p at Target Field.

Game 161: Tigers @ twins

We're almost there. For the first time in seven years, there WILL be October baseball that means something.

I'm hoping that this isn't my last game log for the year. It will be really nice if I need to half bake something for a game against the Spiders next Saturday.

Even if I don't get that opportunity, though, this year has been a success that I don't think any of us saw coming. There will be plenty of time to speculate about the best course moving forward, but for now, the best course of action is to drink another beer and watch the Twins beat up on a team that is decidedly tensing in the opposite direction.

Tonight, Slegermania takes hold again. I hope he's able to pitch however far into the game as the plan dictates. Also, some dude named Sanó gets to hopefully play his way into the Tuesday lineup.

If this it, then I've half-baked my last game log for the year. Go Twins!

Game 154. Twins at Tigers

I think Kyle Gibson is going to have a pretty good game. The Tigers are not good and playing out the string with a lame duck manager. I think last game was just a blip, and really it was only a couple of innings he was bad.....I can't believe I believe Kyle Gibson can be a good pitcher. What a crazy season!

(that said, if a team is willing to trade a middling prospect for Gibson I won't complain)

Game 114. Twins at Detroit.

Sweeping the season series against Milwaukee has done wonders for playoff positioning as the Twins find themselves back to within striking distance of winning an AL Central title.  Riding a season high 5 game win streak, the Twins are 3 .5 games behind Cleveland and .5 games back in the Wild Car slot (but who really wants a WC spot? I want Titles!)

The pitching matchup is a battle of mediocrity. Kyle Gibson goes for us, Anibal Sanchez for the Tigers.

Joe Mauer has been walking some more lately and has brought his BB/K ratio to 50/54. A week ago it was 45/54. Wek Mauer is getting on base, the Twins have a better chance of winning. Im sticking to that theory!

2017 Game 7: Twins at Tigers

You know what's cooler than zero wins?  Five wins. -- Kirby Puckett (unconfirmed).

Twins are 5-1 and everyone is relieved we may not have to go through the crap-fest that was the 2016 season.  Of course the rain-on-the-paraders like to point out "it's only 3.7 percent of the season, that's like being in the third quarter of the first NFL game."  Huh?  Who cares? enjoy the fact we have some fun baseball being played.  And stop talking about the NFL!

Hector Santiago and his cool 1.80 ERA takes on Matt Boyd and his not-so-cool 19.29 ERA.  The Tigers are probably a .500 team this year but they did take down the Beantowners 3 out of 4 games of the weekend. Twins haven't done well in Detroit lately, so by late Thursday afternoon we should have some more answers about what kind of team we will have this year (or not, 9 games is like 6.5 minutes left to play in the first... oh for Christ sake)
