I've been so out of the Twins loop lately, I didn't know that Tommy Milone is back with the big league club. What else have I missed?

Game 67. Yankees at Twins. 7:10 (weather pending?)
So, between long hours at work and OMG A SOCIAL LIFE for the first time in what feels like 10 years AND west coast games, I haven't paid much attention to the Twins this week. The big hullabaloo is Oswaldo Arcia being DFA'd. Am I supposed to offer a hot taek about this? I don't know I supposed. But really I just don't care. I want players to succeed. Arcia probably plateaued his success as a Twin (in their eyes) and let him go. I do hope he does well. Maybe on a Danny Valencia path of success. I will not boo him. Also, I will not criticize the Twins 15 years later when Arcia is an almost HoFer like David Ortiz. Because that argument is boring. Its baseball, life moves on.
Or, maybe the 2016 Twins are being Nihilists and want to see how far the boundaries can go before everything snaps.
16 June 2016: The Yankees are in town
The PR's birthday is tomorrow and mine is Tuesday. My parents are taking us to tonight's game as her team is in town to play my team.
Anyone else going tonight?

Game 96 recap: Twins 10 Yankees 1
If you missed the game, I found the file footage of Yankees pitching
Miguel Sano's two run HR in the first was really something. (side not, how many times are we going to something like that over his career? 100? 150?) Taking borderline pitches to work the count then found a hanging cutter and crushed it over the CF wall and he didnt full extension of his arms!
Two runs is all Phil Hughes needed as he scattered 7 hits over 7 innings of work as the Twins moved to 52-44 on the season and gained a game on the Royals in the AL Central race. I dont like seeing Wild Card standings. The WC is a crap shoot. Winning divisions guarantees you 3 playoff games.
Kurt Suzuki flashed some of his 2014 form by knocking in two runs to pad the lead. Torii Hunter lined a HR in the 7th, then Trevor Plouffe and Brian Dozier blasted homers in the 8th to make it a laugher. Also of note Eddie Rosario hit 3 doubles.
I love when the Twins beat down an opponent, but there are two teams I really love to see them against: The White Sox and the Yankees. Yeah, this game was awesome. Lets do it again Saturday night!
Game 96. Yankees at Twins
Trevor Plouffe deserves all the awesome points today.
One media member asked Trevor Plouffe, "obviously it's always special to play the Yankees, how do you look at this series?" (1/2)
Plouffe: "You guys always say that. For us it's not that way. For us the Yankees are just another team that we're trying to beat." (2/2)
2014 Game 53: Twins @ the Fancy Bedpan
Kevin Correia takes the hill for the Twins, Masahiro Tanaka does the same for the Yankees. Tanaka's been pretty fearsome so far (2.61 FIP, 10.1 K/9 against only 1.3 BB/8, league leading ERA, if you're into that sort of thing). Correia....has definitely pitched baseball games for the Twins.
Gotta say, this pitching matchup doesn't look particularly promising.
2014 Game 52: Minnesota Twins at New York Yankees
Ricky Nolasco
v
Vidal Nuno
Nuno has a 5.49 ERA and a 4.76 FIP. He has a (slightly) below average strikeout rate and a (slightly) below average walk rate. He would fit well on the Twins starting staff. Instead, the Yankees have him. He's left-handed and was drafted in the 48th round in 2009, so I'm expecting a shutout.

2013 Game 79: Yankees at Twins
I had a pretty nice game log all ready to go today, but we won't be using it because it's on my laptop. I'm writing this on my backup PC, which I built about the same time that Gardy took over as manager of the Twins. It's slow. Painfully slow. Matt LeCroy slow. Sloths laugh at things this slow. But it's all I've got until I can eradicate the apparent malware that has basically bricked my laptop.
The Twins open a 4-game series tonight against the team we all love to hate. The Yankees send 41-year-old Andy Pettitte to the mound. We know what he can do. He's beat the Twins in his last seven starts against the hometown nine. The Twins counter with Scott Diamond, who has struggled in has past few starts while posting a 1-3 record since June 2nd. But for once it actually feels like the Twins match up pretty well with the banged-up Bombers sans ARod and the Cap'n. We'll see.
Play ball!
