Game 88 Recap: From the Livejournal of Cole DeVries

July 11, 2013

Mood: Humble 😐

Music: Bruno Mars - Treasure

Well, I finally moved out of my hotel room in Rochester and signed a lease on a pretty good apartment. Dad and Janelle rented a U-Haul and drove a bunch of my stuff from my old apartment in Minneapolis all the way here, so I can finally be comfortable. I didn’t realize how much I missed my Xbox lol! I've been playing COD a lot again, but I'm a total noob now after not playing for a while. I guess I just have to accept that maybe I’ won’t be as good as I used to be. That’s a lot easier to do with COD than it is with Baseball.

Game 87: The Stinky Smell of Indifference

Gibson (1-1, 7.94 ERA) vs. Archer (2-3, 4.17 ERA)

I think I completely missed Gibson's crappy start that makes his ERA look really bad. Since I have no recollection of it, it must not have happened and the stats are all just typos.

Anyway, this AL East trip has shoved me all the way down into indifference for the year. That, and I've had to increase my time away from the internet at home to take care of stuff around the house and help with the Trinket now that we're nearing the end of this pregnancy. I hope the next manager of the team (I assume it'll be Mientkiewicz since his team is winning) is able to beat these guys next year. Also, the Twins are double digit games out of first base. I think its time to trade away all the vets (Joe excepted) and just bring up everyone from the minors and see what we got.

Game 84 Recap: Your Minnesota Twins 4, A Well Run Ball Club 7

I watched this game. The whole thing. And I totally spaced on the recap. Because it is a painful thing to do at this moment in the season.

Hicks had four hits. That was cool. Mountie hit one on a line into the right field seats. That was nice.

Other things were not good. Thielbar gave up a run so Gardy will probably never use him again. Deduno still makes me wonder if he is an OK pitcher or not(trick question because on this team he is the ace). Tropicana Field looks like an unpleasant place to watch a ball game. The turf has weird stains like a dorm room throw rug.

All in all not a great game. Alas there is another game today to hopefully cleanse the palate. As Slowey would say, we can't help but continue to watch the Sisyphean effort that is the 2013 Minnesota Twins' season.

2013 Game 85: Blue Jays at Twins

The Twins meet the Jays once more after a week or so of moving in opposite directions. Scott Diamond goes for the Twins, and I sure as heckfire do hope he's not ruined after his injury. The Jays start something called Todd Redmond, who has four appearances in his life, and just one start (not this year). He was mildly serviceable as a starter in AAA, having two meh years in 09-10, a nice year in 11 and an okay year in 12. I can't imagine he projects to be a long-term starter in the majors, but hey, I'll root for him starting after this game.

Go Twins! We're now double-digit games under .500. Let's fix that.
