2020 Game 32: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Naps

José Berríos
vs
Mike Clevinger

Time for Berríos to continue his success from the last game and continue how well the starters have pitched in this series. The Twins meanwhile scored four against Clevinger to close out July. He pitched well, if wild, against Cincinnati earlier this month and has been out since.

The Twins are 4-2 against Cleveland so far. One more win clinches at least .500 against them this year. Let's make this a 4-2 game to turn the season series to 5-2.

2020 Game Log 31: Twins at Spiders

So the 2020 season is officially half over and the Twins sitting pretty at 20-10. Google tells me that's winning every two out of three games or a .66666666666666666666666 winning percentage. They've done it with pretty good pitching and some timely hitting, which will usually lead to winning lots of games. Seems to prove out.

Speaking of good pitching, Justin Shane Bieber on the mound for Clevelanders. He is really good with a Yummy 5-0 record this year. WHIP of 0.75, 65ks in 40.2 innings with just 6 walks and 25 hits. But Never Say Never Twins fans, Rich Hill is due for a stellar performance himself.

2020 Game Log 30: Minnesota Twins at Cleveland Spiders

We ride into Ohio behind King Kenta* who is coming off perhaps the best performance of his career. He'll face off against Civale, who like any member of the Cleveland pitching staff, is "pretty good".

The Twins are only 1.5 games ahead of the Spiders, so this three game series will be an important one.

Kenta-san:

(*everybody wanna cut the legs off him.)

2020 GAME 29: Twins (-148) at KC (+137) – Total 9.5

For the third consecutive Sunday it's a Twins Royals match up.  I'll be happy to be done with this team.

Bullpen game vs a Rookie still looking for his first win - repeat of Monday's matchup the Twins won 4-1 getting 2 runs off Bubic in the 4th inning and 6 twins pitchers not giving up a run until a Dozier HR in the 9th.

Take the Twins to win and lets roll with the under on the total

Odds last week:

  • 37 game win pace
  • +650 AL Pennant (3rd behind NYY and TB)
  • +1200 World Series (4th LAD, NYY, TB)

Odds today:

  • 38.6 win pace
  • +600 AL Pennant (3rd behind NYY, TB, tied with HOU)
  • +1200 World Series (3rd behind LAD, NYY, tied with TB and HOU)

Not much change for Twins future odds after a 4-2 week. Houston odds are decreasing (IE - improving)  and Vegas sees Oakland, Cleveland and the White Sox as lower tier teams from an odds standpoint.

Twins are 9-18 to the total and 2-13 at home to the total - enough games to consider this a trend and it will be interesting to see if Vegas lines adjust (9.5 total today suggests they have not yet adjusted).

Game 28: so much royals

I'm about done with Royals games. I'd be saying that even if they didn't have our number, but right now, our favorite team is 3-5 against them, and 14-5 against all other teams. It strikes me that the Twins would probably like playing someone else for a bit, as well.

Tonight, the Twins send Dobnak to try to regain some sense to all of this. He did a fine job against this team six days ago, so there's no reason to think he can't do the same today.

2020 Game Log 24: Brewers at Twins

(Checks MLB.com to make sure tonight's games haven't been canceled for a league-wide training on when a batter can swing at a pitch..... whew, we're still on....)

Brewers come to town for a three-game series starting tonight. This is usually where I gripe about MLB having the Brewers and Twins playing mid-week games instead of weekend games to accommodate more fans, but the pandemic has even taken that away from me this year. Don't worry, I double down on my venting next year if need be.

Maeda up for the Twins and he's been all everyone wanted: Three wins paired with zero losses; 0.72 WHIP, 21Ks v. 4BBs. Sure the competition hasn't been all that great but Maeda didn't create the schedule did he? Someone named Corbin Burnes for the Brewers and it appears he moves from the bullpen to getting the start. Likes the strikeout with 1.5 Ks per inning, but also will walk a bunch too. Should be a fun game.

First pitch at 7:10p A little birdie that Bert is back in the booth for those who watch with tv broadcast.

Twins Line-Up
RF - Kepler
SS - Polanco
DH - Cruz
LF - Rosario
3B - Gonzalez
2B - Arraez
1B - Sano
CF - Buxton
C - Avila

2020 Game Log 23 Skidoo: Kansas City Royals at Minnesota Twins

The Twins and Royals close out their series on this Monday eve (huh). Twins have taken two of three so far in this series, "The Battle for 4-2". Every game has ended in that score so far.

Wisler and his funky looking elbow will get the "start" for the Twins. Bubic is making his fourth major league start and his first against the Twins.

Apparently the Royals were none to pleased at Romo's self-celebration at the end of yesterday's game. In a game without fans, everyone can hear everything and such. We'll see if any of that carries over into today's game.
