WE ARE BACK FROM BREAK! Yes!!!!! I predict these three things:
1. Joe Mauer will hit at least 3 home runs from now until seasons end.
2. Jose Berrios will pitch at least 1 more shut out.
3. The front office will make a trade that everyone hates, but will end up being a great thing for the team.
Nothing fixes a reeling baseball team like a homestand against the 2018 Orioles and Royals as Twins look to add to their 5 game win streak. Aaron Slegers on the mound for the Twins after a nice outing last week. He also pitched decently six weeks ago against the Royals. Ian Kennedy pitching for KC and his 1-8 record reflects pitching for a team already 40 games (!) under .500 on July 10th.
First pitch at 7:10 at Target Field, weather should be nice and clear by that time too.
Twins play the second game against the scuffling Royals after winning 8-5 on Memorial Day. These are the games the Twins need to keep winning if they want to keep pace with the Clevelanders, especially given their upcoming four game series this weekend at Target Field against the dreaded [redacted].
Danny Duffy on the mound for KC and he’s been a bit of disappointment after a 2016 breakout season. 6.14 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 2-6 record shouldn’t strike fear in the Twins’ batters hearts. Gibby pitching for the Twins and he’s been much better than his 1-3 record would indicate.
No Hockey or NBA Playoffs tonight so the Twins can have your undivided attention. 7:15p start, so grab some KC-style bbq, your favorite beverage and enjoy.
Can't imagine there's going to be a lot of traffic here today, but this is here should you wish to subject yourselves to assbats on this fine holiday. For those brave (or bored) souls, let's see what Lynn and his 6.34 ERA can do.
A Twins series win would really put a blow into KC's playoff chances. So lets do that!
Former Royals great Dillon Gee goes for the Twins. With reinforcements on the way (Mejia, whatever September callups), he could be pitching to keep his spot in the rotation.
It may be cloudy, a bit damp, and chilly but we got baseball tonight! (tomorrow is a maybe). The Twins salvaged a win out of the Rockies series and they are 5-5 in the last 10 game. But, still in first place!
Hector Santiago goes for the Twins. He was not good against Cleveland hopefully that was just a blip and not a trend. Nate Karns pitches for the Royals. He has 10+ strikeout in his last two outings.
Maybe Gibson need a change of scenery? Or maybe he would be better suited for a bullpen role since he can't seem to make it twice through a batting order (Gibson's career slash line for 2nd time through the order: .296/.356/.472/.827 yikes!)
The Royals have Ian Kennedy starting. They are scuffling right now, going 2-8 in their last 10 games.
