Ricky "Eventually an ace?" Nolasco
BR has the Twins ranked 22nd in SRS. Thankfully, the White Sox are ranked 27th. This is a perfect time for Nolasco to earn that ace(-ish) label.

The Twins return home after a long road trip to host their neighbors from down I-90. In his (what some would consider overdue) major league debut, Yohan Pino takes the mound against Jose Quintana to start this 4 game series.

Hughes (7-2, 3.17 ERA) vs. Lester (7-7, 3.33 ERA)
Its not a great time to lose a few with the Royals juggernaut cruising along like it has been lately. Man, is that weird to type. Does anyone know where this has come from and can the Twins have some of it?
The Twins have the right guy going on the mound today in the "don't make it a losing streak" category. I can't remember a free agent pitcher the Twins have signed that has consistently made me happy like the Hughes signing has. Moral victories, ammiright?
RIP, Tony Gwynn. I quit smoking several years ago, and I quit chew about five minutes after my first dip of Skoal. Play ball!

Greetings from SFO - we're flying home today after finishing up the cross country RV tour of the Western US ... 'vacation' wouldn't be accurate, but I wasn't at work and did see some amazing stuff. I haven't been following the squad much except to see a box score here and there. Lots of roster changes to catch up on when I get home (Plouffe to the DL with a "left oblique strain" & Florimon up is apparently the most recent).
Anyway, they managed to score 8 runs over the last three frames (and still lose) yesterday. Hopefully that offense can pick up where it left off since I don't anticipate Nolasco will pitch a shut-out in the rubber match.

The Twins are in fifth place, but just four games behind the Tigers. The division has returned to mediocrity and with the Twins at the bottom, it's a lot more fun.
Yesterday, Jeff Sullivan listed the biggest over- and underachievers by position. He limited it to the positions that were at least two wins over or under projections so far in the season. One Twin made it on the list:
Our "ace" squares off against their rookie phenom. Taking 2 of 3 from these guys on the road would be something. If they pull it off, that would make the Twins 6 for 6 in series against the AL East (!?).

Correia (2-7, 6.11 ERA) vs. Happ (5-2, 4.12 ERA)
Time to get a winning streak starter, Mr. Correia. Somehow. That craptacular AL Central title isn't going to wait around all season. At least, I think it won't even though the Tigers seem to be doing their best to leave it on the platter.
My time in Manchester is finished and we've moved to an area that looks, basically, like every American mall area ever. Its pretty awful. There's still some real ale to be found, but its all in what seem to compare to TGI Fridays or the like. Fortunately, I won't have time to do anything, anyway, since we're here to conduct a trial this week. I did manage to introduce the Scottish sales guy that I'm with to Bengali Tiger last night, though and the same bar had this on cask as well.
